The Kamprad Family Foundation

Inter IKEA Group Donations to the Kamprad Family Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Research and Charity

During 2011 Inter IKEA Group made an initial donation of EUR 100 m to Familjen Kamprads stiftelse, a foundation created by Ingvar Kamprad and his family. In addition Inter IKEA Group has signed a deed of gift for the period 2012-2016, stating that Group will donate EUR 29 m euro annually, provided that the company results so permit. The aim of the foundation is to support, stimulate and reward education and scientific research in a way promoting entrepreneurship, environment, competence, health and social progress.

According to its founding statutes the Kamprad Family Foundation, based in Växjö in the Småland region of Sweden, should “primarily support, stimulate and reward research and education that is conducted in or serves the interests of Småland and which is conducted within the framework of Linnæus University. Secondly, support for regional research and education projects may be possible. Funds may ultimately also be allocated nationally and globally.”

Ingvar Kamprad worked preparing the initiative for a number of years. The foundation is well rooted in Småland with a global outlook. It has a specific focus on implementation of results from research in a manner that rapidly and cost-effectively can become a benefit to the many people.

The donation from Inter IKEA Group is a long term CSR commitment and well aligned with the long term business interest of the group.

We are an international group of companies, but our heritages as well as our most valuable asset, the IKEA Concept, are rooted in Småland. It therefore makes sense for us to engage in and financially support a foundation with Smålandish roots. It does also make sense for the Inter IKEA Group to engage in a foundation founded by our founder and the creator of the IKEA Concept, Ingvar Kamprad and his family.

We strongly believe the Kamprad Family Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Research & Charity has the potential to over the long term make a difference in the many people’s life. The purpose of the foundation is by that well aligned with our aspiration to seek to contribute to the IKEA vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people”.
